| Frequently Asked Questions Exactly what is a Certified Senior Move Manager? A senior move manager is a professional who specializes in assisting older adults and their families with the emotional and physical aspects of relocation and/or “aging in place.” The accreditation CRTS stands for Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist. Being certified means the individual has met educational requirements, passed a security background check and continues to take ongoing course work to retain certification. Can we do some of the work ourselves? Yes. You can choose from our menu of offerings which services you actually need. Why is a Senior Move Manager needed now and not 25 years ago? The US population aged 65+ will jump nearly 80 percent when the Baby Boom generation retires (2010- 2030). They will account for one-fifth of the total US population and many will need the help of a senior move manager. Many families today are geographically dispersed and adult children are often not able to help with the move process due to distance, career or family obligations. Many seniors have no surviving children or increasingly, their children are older adults themselves. Illness or death before the move can leave the family emotionally and physically drained, requiring the help of a trained professional. How much does it cost? Fees vary by geographic region and services requested. Some senior move managers charge hourly; others give one bid for the entire job. (FAQs provided by NASMM) |
